Mind Body Classroom: A Gentle Path to Calm, Connection, and Learning
In today’s classrooms, teachers have so many roles: We hold space for big emotions, shifting energy, and a wide range of developmental needs. We build community, create safety, and foster growth—not just academic, but emotional and relational, too.
So what do we do when our classrooms feel dysregulated? What happens when our students arrive overwhelmed, overstimulated, or shut down? What do we do when we feel this way, too?
That’s where the Mind Body Classroom curriculum comes in.
Based in child development, neuroscience, and trauma-sensitive teaching, this simple toolkit helps educators bring students back to a place of calm and connection—using just a few minutes of breath, imagination, and gentle presence each day.
🌿 What Is Mind Body Classroom?
Mind Body Classroom is a collection of peaceful games, sensory practices, and mindful moments designed for PreK–5 students and their teachers. It’s not a behavior chart. It’s not a script. It’s a way to regulate the nervous system, support emotional well-being, and create a more peaceful classroom culture—from the inside out.
The practices are playful and simple, often taking just 3–10 minutes. Each one focuses on one or more core mindfulness skills, such as:
Body awareness
Breathwork
Positive imagination
Loving-kindness
Present-moment focus
Gratitude and compassion
These aren’t stand alone lessons. They’re tools we can integrate into our morning meeting, transitions, quiet time, or end-of-day rituals—whenever our students (or we!) need a reset.
Mind Body Classroom activities help shift the nervous system from a stress state (fight, flight, freeze, or fawn) to a regulated state (calm, present, open). They do this by:
Activating the parasympathetic nervous system
Engaging sensory awareness and positive imagery
Reinforcing predictable, relationship-based rhythms
Even one mindful moment can interrupt stress patterns, support co-regulation, and create a ripple of peace across the classroom.
The Mind Body Classroom curriculum is designed to be developmentally flexible. For students who need more support, games can be simplified or offered one-on-one. Visuals, props, or quiet corners can make these tools even more accessible.
What are the tools Included in the Curriculum?

✨ The Ripple Effect of Peaceful Practice
Mind Body Classroom isn’t just about helping your students calm down. It’s about building a culture of connection—one breath, one visualization, one moment of kindness at a time.
And every time we take a breath, we give permission for our students to do the same.
